illegal???

has anyone in california ever heard that shaving your door handles is illegal...I unfortunately overheated today and the psycho tow truck driver goes "you know that's illegal right? i wish they still gave tickets for that" i was thinking omg this guy's gonna do something horrible to my truck, he hates that i have no door handles...luckily my truck and i are home safe... but DOES ANYONE KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT THIS??
