What wires do i NEED for it to run?

Whats up dawgs? I got my engine dropped in last night and i wanna get it running.... I saw the engine in the truck, running, before i bought it(for $140, woohoo!). And wanna hear something wierd? Theres only TWO wires going to the STOCK carb!!! The yellow electric choke, and this other red one coming out the front, bottom of the carb. All the other wires are cut off. I know it will work with just those two, but i dont know where they hook up at. Can i put the choke on a toggle switch? Just run 12V to it and it will turn on or what? And whats the RED wire?! URG! Its frusterating, someone help this poor kid over here! Thanks guys
