in the never ending quest of bagging my truck, me and a buddy have gotten into which way i should build my notch for my 77 chevy c10 getting a 454 and a th400 tranny
i was thinking of getting the 8 inch notch and bridge kit, that i can get welded in, the one that is available thru jason at SD for 130
but my buddy wants to make it out of 2x3 1/4inch thick wall, and pretty much chopsaw the corners at a 45 so that the notch would be a rectangle in shape and would be the notch, and he said it would be cheaper to make and easier to weld up than me getting the bridge kit from jason and welding in the 8 pieces, and he says that the weld in plates would not be as strong as the tubing welded
whats your opinion and what would you do in that situation
for some reason i think that the weld in notch willbe stronger than what he wants to create, and no the truck will not be back halved with tubing
