leaking push fittings

My buddy and i just air bagged his accord, we sealed all threaded connections with teflon pipe sealant, and the only thing left leaking is some of the push fittings for our plastic 1/2 o.d. hose. Is there any thing that i can do to ensure minimal leakage throught he push fittings? thanx
