Ok guys I just replaced the upper ball joints and tie rod ends trying to clean up some slop in the steering and handling on my 90 x cab b22k. HAs anyone ever seen the torque numbers of these fugging things? Its rediculous. Tie rod ends are like 59-72 ft lbs, but the damn things compress to nothing and the cotter pin hole it stupidly bellow the castle nut if you do????? WTF? The upper ball joints arent quite so bad, they're semi close once they're torqued.
Also has anyone thats used the shAIM spindles on their mazda ever replaced the lower (s10) ball joints? Mine have been on the truck a couple of months now, and the damn things are toast!
Anywho If anyone has any other suggestions for helping cleaning up the slop in the steering. I think drag links or idler arm are gonna be next on my list. The frigging truck spent about 12 years going up and down dirt roads, so I guess I should'nt hope the thing to be perfect. That and the truck was free.
