info on hookin up cables-shaved door kit.

I need info on hookin up the pull-cables on a shaved door handle. I have all the wiring completed but, the cable must not be right cuz it won't open. It's on a 73 Nova and the solenoids are 45lbs? and there's door poppers in it too??
