Shortening four link bars ?'s

I have a four link on my mazda two forward and two reverse. Before anyone shits on me for having them that way it has worked fine. The forward bars are the longer ones and the mounting tabs hit the grouond before the frame. If I shortened them and tapped them so they sit further back on the frame, where it curves up would it throw anything off. It doesnt look like it would, but I'm thinking the amount they need to be shortened would cause them to be the same length as the rear bars. Will this cause a problem. Any help would be awesome.
