hey if noone knows on here anyone know any good online message boards or something where mechanics can answer questions i took my toyota in to get checked but they pretty much just said it needs a new clutch and throttle body assembly. heres the deal
its been running hot like the radiator is empty and i fill it every 2 weeks or so it never goes past half on the c/h but usually its like a quarter or less than but then it jumps to bout 3/8ths then i fill it and when i got it checked they said its fine and cant find any leaks and theirs no broken head gasket.
also its been idling low and the place said its because the throttle body is fucked so the rpms are jumpy but today when i got gas and started it just died instantly i started it again and it died. so then the next time i revved it up a lil then when the rpms got to about 800 i revved it again nothing really about 2k rpms and it was fine but it still idles funky between like 500-750 instead of 750 and i dunno if its the timing thats off even tho the mechanic is pretty good. or i dunno then i was thinking maybe its the thermostat and thats why its causing the temp changes and loss of coolant. its got about 48k original miles on it oil changes every 3-3500 miles but the coolant has never been drained from the engine so im thinking i should do that and replace the clutch last time the rpms were fucked the place just used some carb cleaner cuz it was all dirty and this time they just said its cuz the throttle body assembly was goin out. anyway they said its 800bux to replace that but i loooked lc sells a bored one for 300 but i wasent sure if they ment intake assembly or just the throttle body cuz it was a toyota dealer so im sure they would know the difference anyway sorry for the long post but if anyone can help please do.
