I have a 96 chevy fullsize with a 5.7 vortec. My problem is the damn alt. doesn't charge at idle and the truck drops to 9-10 volts. I was told the regulator is set to shutdown the alt.
Is there anyway around this, the alternator itself is good, and does charge when I'm driving, but when I have the truck in gear, and I'm at a stop light the voltage just drops off the map.
