Help overspray

I painted my base coat factory red on my s-10 tailgate. then I layed my flames and painted silver. When I clean the surface and started painting the tape started to peel back and I got over spray in a few places. How do I get rid of the overspray, can i wet sand with 2000 grit. do I wet sand the whole tailgate or just around the overspray. thanks for the help
