solenoids or acuators?

hey im gonna be putting a shaved door handly kit on a 90 accord and i was wandering if i should use acuators or solenoids for them? i have a mazda pickup and i used solenoids but, i think on cars yours supposed to use acuators, well on newer cars atleast, any one help me
