I need some information.

I need a little help with something if anyone is willing to share with me. I have seen many flyers for shows with the pics of rides on them, but the rides look drawn, or cartoonish. How do you go about doing that? Is that the process of "tooning" a ride, or are they hand drawn and scanned in, what? Can anyone offer any insight into this?
