got a 94 toyota which had 3.72 stock gearing, i put my 205/40/17s on it and it revved a little high on the freeway but it was manageable. my 88 mazda rx7 irs rearend in the truck now has 4.10s in it. needless to say its hard to keep up with traffic on the freeway, the engine is screaming. ive looked around some and found new gear sets for this rearend starting at 4.33s and going up from there mainly for drag racing.
i need new gears for it and i want at least 3.72 or preferably lower. i realize the differential out of an automatic car has 3.90s but i will still be in the same boat and will be out a lot of money for not much improvemnt. where can i look, or how much can i expect to pay for a custom gear set made. and getting larger wheels and tires is not an option. i dont have room to put a tall enough tire under there to make any kind of difference.
thanks for any input guys.
