ok so with the plans of going a different route, figured i'd start a different thread.

so first off for the bagged route is a 4wd to clear these darn meaty 16x9 rears..... 4wd bed came in and a little dolly hammer work did the job....

gonna grab some 4wd front fenders and install my 4wd valance on there as well. still undecided between a phantom grille or 87 4Runner grille.....

Looking damn good...4x4 sheet metal rules!! Oh & if all else fails & you still have trouble tucking in the rear then get an axle out an late model truck like Seths. If Im right then the axle in his truck is more narrow than the one in our trucks....hell know that for sure!

thanks man..... i was looking into that but the later axles are a bit more available should i need parts so i wanna keep it....... the other option i have is to mill out the back of the wheel down about 1/4" to tuck em in more......

i just so happen to have access to one too..... ill post pictures as i go along. with the body. im also gonna try and order up my bag stuff as soon as i can.

79-83 axle is 2" narrower than the one you currently have. Parts are just as accessable because they used the same third member, bearings, gears, brakes, gaskets, oil seals, etc. The onyl actual difference is the length of the housing and the axles themselves.
