Hey all.. I'm Benny from North Queensland in Australia.. New to this forum.. So this is my 89 single cab long bed hilux.. It was my first ever vehicle I've ever owned!! I still have it after 6 years.. I didnt know a thing about what to do about air suspension of fab work but learnt on every step of the way..

These are the oldest photos I have.. This is what it looked like when it was a "complete" truck.. lol

as with all learning basic mono leaf setup was the go for a novice like me at the time..

Layin leaf hangers... Woo Hoo! lol..

Been the fact that I live in queensland.. My truck got "defected" via the police for having illegal air suspension.. In queensland we CANT even, notch, bag or put rims on our trucks... Its a offence and you get fined via a defect notice and the truck is ordered off the road.. So fun was over for me for a while..

I got side tracked bought and Bagged this 69' Mercedes Benz 280s for a bit of fun..

I sold that after having a year of fun in it (and no defects luckily) and with my fresh skills and confidence we hooked back into my truck...

Bagged the front with a modified bolt on kit to lay frame with dreams of trying to get my truck legal in this state and tubbed it.. Converted the engine to EFI from carbie.. WE dont get efi 22r's over here.. Also I've got a T3 ar .42 turbo ready to slap on for a bit more sting..

That went out the window so we decided 4 link it and body drop it...

While waiting for 4 link and parts, scored a cheap sunroof..

Got the 4 link in.. Was tricky for our first time.. But when you got beers and a good mate anything is possible... haha

Then got this is my daily... a 90 nissan navara (hardbody) all shaved up and trimmed..

Got sick of my truck laying rail so we started on the body drop... 50mm channel (2 inch)..

Full cando tube front wishbone IFS... Re bagged can now lay 20's..

Scolloped the chassis. pushed the bag into it as far as possible.. About 30mm.. All new crossmembers.. A bolt in gear box x member for ease of install- unstall for "when" it goes back from a power increase.. lol

Used a bit of 6mm pipe, belt fark outta it until it match the radius of the bag..

As usual fashion I went crazy industrial with my gussets

Engine x member lifted 25mm and horns trimmed... Lay pretty dam flat with no zee..

Full lift... Gets the rails 250mm off the ground in the front section of the frame, 210mm in the rear..

Bit of a sneak peek of whats going on with the bridge..

This is where I'm up to at the moment, chassis is pretty much done.. Just have to re do shock tabs and some other little things like hand brake cable, brake line tabs and exhaust mount points and its off to get sand blasted..

I've got to get it to a car show at the end of next month.. Wont be finished of course, but yeah we only really have one big car show up here in North Queensland..

Hope you all enjoy as much as I have building and learning more and more on the way..

I'll keep you posted.

Cheers all!

what year does the aussie yota not have that lip on the beds
tommy b   +1y
none.
the 89-96 xcab doesnt have it and the newer than 96 xcabs dont have the bed gutter.

we also really only have standard single cab trucks and xtra cab trucks, no shortbed single cab, although many people "shorty" thier frames and run an xcab bed.

looks really cool benny, are u planning to zed it or not?
have you driven the 22re? i ask cos i only have a busted 4Y for my runner and dont know what route to go for a motor

cheers
