prepping at home

alrite, i may start prepping my truck at home, i do not have equipment to do this but was told the ace hardware may even rent out equipment that i need. anybody ever heard this? if i do this, what is a reasonable cost and for how long would u think that cost should cover? also, once i primer and all, do i put a sealer? i wont paint it for prolly 4-5 months after the prep work......i will prolly seal it and when i go to prep i will block it one last time with wet 4-600 and spray one more coat of primer. would this work?
