Best Way to Get to California

I am making a trek to california from michigan soon To do some truck business hopefully.

Anyway, I need to find the best way to get to the san jose area, with out crossing snow-capped mountains. I will have a trailer and a truck on that tailer in tow...

Would i be better off going to arizona, then to san jose? something to that effect?

Also, anyone wanna put up a room and food for some truckers trying to get crossed country and back in less than 4 days?
