safety inspections

I've been reading about how people get pulled over for cruising to low or whatever and when the cop threatens to have it towed, they slam it and there like tow this or whatever, which makes me wonder, do you guys in the usa not have safety inspections ever issued? or just tickets? cause if you pulled that bullshit up here in the great white north the cop would just tell you that your trucks roadsided and you have to have it pass inspection which is freakin im possible with air, or any sort of frame modifications. any info?
