Sandblasting a 98 s-10 rear-end??

hey my brother works for a place that builds hoppers and bins for coal mines, and they have a sandblasting machine and he talked to the boss and he's going to get my rear-end sandblasted for free, the only problem is, i was wondering what problems might arise from doing so, like sand in the tailshaft? plugging off the holes etc..any suggestions.
