Play or pay?

Well I have a dilemma. My truck will be getting painted sometime in the beginning of December (Christmas bounus). But before it goes, I need to fill the holes where the emblems are, shave the antenna, fill two holes where the previous owner drilled an aftermarket passenger side mirror into the door. And I also need to have a roll pan welded on. I know these don't sound like huge tasks for most of you, but the problem is, I've never welded a day in my life. So, my question is, could this be an opportunity to learn to weld, or should I just pay someone to do this for me? What level of difficulty am I looking at if I do the work myself? What price might I be looking at if I paid someone?Help a brotha out.
