IM WANTING TO PUT A BLOW-THRU BOX IN MY STANDARD CAB 94, I ALREADY HAVE THE HOLE CUT WITH THE BOOT INSTALLED BY THE PREVIOUS OWNER. WHAT IS THE BEST WAY TO BUILD AND MATERIAL TO USE FOR THE BOX? I WANT SOMETHING THAT WILL NOT LEAK. I WAS THINKING ABOUT USING 1/4" PLATE THAT I HAVE SITTING AROUND TO BUILD A SHELL AND PUT MY MDF BOX INSIDE OF THAT, OR SOMETHING OF THE SORT?

don't use 1/4" plate.. thats way too heavy.

i'd say use 16 gauge steel if you're just looking to put a mdf box inside of it.

YEAH, I JUST SAID 1/4" BECAUSE I HAVE A WHOLE SHEET IN THE SHOP AND NOT DOING ANYTHING WITH IT. EXCEPT GUSSETS AND THINGS HERE AND THERE. I WOULD BUILD THE WHOLE BOX OUT OF THAT AND JUST ADD A MDF OR FIBERGLASS FRONT PLATE, BUT IT PROLLY WOULDNT RESONATE LIKE ALL MDF OR FIBER WOULD.

actually it WOULD resonate.............way too too too much. if your boot is sealed, just build a little cover in your bed out of light gauge steel and some tubing and slide a MDF box up in there as it should be sealed from the cabin to the bed already...

I KNEW IT WOULD RESONATE, JUST NOT IN A DESIREABLE WAY...HAHA. I KNOW THE TRADITIONAL WAY TO BUILD ONE IS FIBERGLASS, BUT IVE NEVER WORKED WITH FIBERGLASS AND REALLY DONT WANT TO PAY SOMEONE TO BUILD ONE DUE TO EXPENSE. IS IT POSSIBLE TO GLASS OVER A ENTIRE MDF BOX? I HAVE NO CLUE ABOUT BUILDING BOXES...

My bedbox is built out 3/4" MDF with a sleeve into the cab and sprayed with Line-X about 1/8" thick. Here are some pics....
