look what i caught today

i already own 2 corn snakes, ones my girlfriend's i got for her, but it stays at my house.. and these 'pet' type snakes i just didnt expect to ever find one in the wild around here, especially on my front porch. well my stepmom called me to come over quick and see if it was a corn snake, which its kind of like one.. but it ended up being a "gray rat snake" (i found this out AFTER i caught it, so for all we knew it was venomous at the time lmao) but I think Im keeping it.. I picked up mice to feed the other ones today and saw these rat snakes (but uglier ones) for sale for over $75! to come across this in my yard was cool to me.. so i figured id share.

my stepmom saw i was excited, so she tried to play it off as "haha i tricked you, i got it for you as an early birthday present.. since i heard you mention you wanted a snake this color" i almost started to believe her, she even made out a fake check so there was a carbon copy thing showin a check made out to the pet store for the price and all.. but anyway, i need to buy some heat mats for these guys.. i know its FLORIDA but still

good news.. i held him, and he didnt act like he felt threatened or anything, he even got a sip of water out of the water dish as i held him above it. i want to take him to a vet to check for parasites, and maybe find out if its male or female.. so wish me luck that hes healthy and will eat soon.

pretty tame huh? thats sick.. i wish i could get back into having snakes... yeah the corns are nice looking, i had a few of them..had the red tails, and the ball pythons, and king snakes,

Yea this is the first time ive ever owned a snake, got the amel corn last year around august. Before I did have an iguana though that was my most exotic pet.. the rest were fish/hampsters lol

i held the new one again today, seemed very tame still.. gonna try feeding it tomorrow.

my moms gonna call the local vets while im at work tomorrow, she knows some of the employees at one so she said shed check it for me how much itd cost (IF they can do it) to sex the snake, maybe mine too. and check the new one for mites..

u can sex it urself if u go buy the probes.. you do know how its done right? lol i used to do it to mine when i bought them , to see if the stores were telling the truth..

Yea man, your tank is bad ass.. when i mentioned having fish.. it was like BETAS lmao.. i ordered a heat mat and thermometer today so my snakes good for the winter. teresa needs to get paid and order the same for hers LOL.

im afraid to try to sex them myself, id be nervous and stab them with the probe..
