Help! w/ranger backspacing/offset

How do you convert backspacing to offset mm?I'm looking at a +40mm offset 8.5 wide wheel. I have a wheel w/5" backspacing now, but it is a little too close to the fender. How can I know how much backspacing is on the +40mm wheel?
