I have an isuzu pup thats just for parts right now but i want to take it to doors. Before i do a conventional i want to build a 3/4 box tubing frame and possibly a toy front clip.... now isuzu frames are just barely over 4" tall by 2". Alot of people say 2x2x1/4 isn't strong enough and to use at least 2x3(or 2x4) but 2x3 upright doesn't seem worth the effort and on its side i don't know how great i can reinforce it where it meets up with the front clip because of the width difference. My idea is to use 2x2x1/4 under the cab with ALOT of tubular crossmembers and 2x3 for the rear clip but i also don't know if my body mounts on my cab will have to be raised or if i will be able to figure out how to run an exhaust. OK TO THE MAIN QUESTIONS, is 2x2x1/4 strong enough with alot of crossmembers, is it worth the effort to run 2x3 upright, how much of a body drop can i get by running 2x3.
