Need Help With Making a Bodykit

I am wanting to make a front and rear bumper for my wagon. I have seen companies take foam blocks and shave them down and lay glass on them to create the bumper. What kind of foam are they using and where di i get it? I talked to my sales reps from the paint company i use and they had no idea. Anybody ever done this? If so, what did you use?
