Best way to tub it?

I am about ready to lift my floor and weld it up so my next step is installing my tubs. My question is, what if the best way to connect the tubs to where the old wheel well used to connect to the quarter around the wheel well opening? I read an article that said you can cut the tub to the contour of the inside of the quarter and than just butt the two 1/8" from each other an seal it with silicone. That doesnt seem the like a clean way to do it, although it was from a reputable source. Anybody know a better way to do this?
