Ok guys admit it. We all like to play it tough and say we dont need a/c, but USUALLY its because our A/C is broken and we are either too lazy or cheep to fix it... But from many years of experiance, girls dont like stinky guys, and if you have humidity u can sweat just from sleeping! And a ride withought a/c can seem ghetto in july =)

In other words, I wanna fix the a/c system in my 89 2200, when i baught it, it seemed like it was working very slightly, if driving for an hour you could tell it was working, we did a very *ahem* ghetto 134a retrofit, and it worked OKAY back in Alabama. but once i got out to arizona i coudlent even tell it was on. unless it was night time. Now my compressor clutch seems to be going out on me. I have decided to just replace and repair it more "professionally" Now I have very minimal experiance with automotive A/C systems, but i am pretty mechanically incline (my bad grammer prooves it!) I assume I will need to go ahead and replace that worn out compressor with a new one, what else would u guys suggest me replace? it has been 9 months since we retro-fitted it with 134a and since the 1.5 years of me owning the truck, it always had refrigerant in it. even when I baught it. so i am not TOO worried about a leaking line or anything, i would assume the compressor be the leakiest part of the A/C system since it is the only moving part? i have heard of needing to change expansion valve, O-rings, evaporator, etc... My a/c system still seems to have 134a in it, now that the heat is cooled off here i can tell it still works. I would like to do all the repairs myself, other than evacuating the 134a thats in it and refilling it... how much would u estimate it cost for me to have a shop suck out the old stuff and add the new after i repalce the bad componets? thanks alot.
