could i just get the steering box from japan and bolt it on the other side and also get the bracket on the other side too? the holes in the frame look like i could just do that ya know. well let m e know whats up . i know i have to section the firewall and move it over to the other side or just make one ect. but was considering doing it and was wondering if anyone had any info on some parts........thanks
I SAY ORDER THE GEAR BOX IF YOU CAN GET IT CAUSE THEN IT WILL BE A SIMPLE BOLT ON THING AND NO CHANCE OF SCREWING UP THE STEERING GEOMETRY BY GETTING THE PIVOT POINTS TOO FAR FORWARD OR BACK
wow wow slow down here... If you flip your linkage in the front its gonna steer in oposite direction of the way your turning (if you turn right your wheels are gonna be turning in the left direction) You cant just flip a rear steer either its gotta be a left hand rear steer rack and pinion. then you have it correct. Your gonna have to measure the width of your front end to make sure you have the right size rack and make sure that its gonna tuck in and work with your front end geometry. which in most cases it will. Hope this helps more than it confuses you cliff lol
The problem with using a factory RHD steering box is the shipping cost. Those thing are heavy! Shipping is over $300. in most cases. It will bolt up to your frame, though. Try and find someone from Aus. that's on here. They can find the parts.
IF YOU WANT TO DO IT CHEAP CHOP THE FRAME RAILS OFF BEHIND THE STEERING BOX AND IN THE SAME PLACE ON THE IDLER ARM SIDE THEN SWAP THEM THEN LENGTHEN YOUR TIE ROD ENDS AND SHORTEN THE STEERING CONNECTING ROD. TRY IT I WANT TO SEE IF IT WORKS LOL
