Whats up guys? I am helping a friend put together a audio system for his '01 Civic. It will be 100% Alpine and he wants to put 2 500rms watt subs in the truck and the mids are 100rms each so there will be 1400rms watts needed. I thought this sounded like a little much for the little car but he wants it LOUD. So my question is if he deos run the 1400rms will me need to upgrade anything else? Battery? Alt.? Is this to much power?

Thanks guys...

you'll deffinatly want to run a capacitor for the audio system.

so if i put a capacitor then the rest of the electrical system will be fine? I just dont want any unforseen costs in this. I can talk him down in power for the subs if i have to. I think he's planning on doing this under $1500 so i need to know everything before we go ahead and do it. I've just never done anything with this kind of power before...

thanks

get a cap

You could get a cap if you want, but if I were you, I would get an Optima Red Top gell cell. With only the cap and running 1400rms you will still notice the battery drain, and headlights dim when he's beatin down(unless you had a hella bigass cap). Trust me, I had 3 JL Audio W7 8's under the back seat of my F250 4X4 with a cap on it and was only runnin 750rms. My shit dimmed when I was rattling windows downtown. I installed the Red Top and the problem was solved. It had more available power from the battery.

Just my $.02.
