painting euros

instead of defiling rare and valuable clear mazda tails, I want an all red tail light with a small section clear white for the reverse light, i was going to paint some clears, but would I be able to paint a gay euro lens instead? what would it look like? would it still be transparent like red tinted clear plastic? like the colorado stock tails? cause thats what I'm goin for.
