Fuel Cell help

i need to get my tank out of my bed and get a cell. i've seen people with sheet metal tanks with the stock sending unit mounted to that. i was jsut wondering how well it worked and if the gauge still reads acurately. and then if anyone has any tips or better ideas. thanks
