Any of yall have any experience with doing this swap? Just curious how much of a pain in the arse it is...Do you NEED the 4Runner core support? Would it make it much easier?

I would also like to know

you should use the core support but its not neccesary, i would just cut the whole bigger for the 4runner headlights, and if there is no p mounting points just make some. the 4 runner core support would make it easier but it is not at all necessary, may as well cut the shit outta yours and spend the money for the 4runner core on something else. good luck

Cool, thanks for the reply. Another quick question, is the core support welded in? Or will it unbolt like most others? If it just unbolts Id probably get the 4runner core support just for the sake of a clean install.

The core support is probably welded on. But, assuming it is, it's an easy swap. My core support was bent bad, so I welded one on from a newer Toyota of the same body style. Here's some pictures of how I did it.

I made measurements from existing mounting holes. Yours may not be the same here.

Then i cut about 1/2" forward of the mark, for adjustment, and to overlap the sides.

Bolt the fenders on to align it.

And weld.

You probably wouldn't have to cut as far back. Probably just right up front. But I cut mine behind the damage. Hope this helps.

I know the bumper/valance combo isnt hard at all if you have any fab skills at all. I used a few random pieces of metal laying around to ext. the mounts out more to bolt it to my stock core.

You dont have to get the core support, the only thing you have to do it trim a bit for the headlight brackets, and drill some holes. I dont think it would be worth your money to actually buy the core support. It took me like 45 minutes to mount the headlights and grill. I can post some pics if you really need them. It is really self explanitory once you get into it.

pics of it would be nice ... if its not to much of a pain in the ass....

It took my 30 minutes and $30 to swap out my bent core support for the straight one.
