tranny crossmember ?

I have a 98 chevy full size and my tranny crossmember has two bolts holding it from the bottom part of the frame on each side, what should i do, just weld it from the top or what, it is hard to get a welder under their also. Just seeing what others did and different ideas. I need to lessen the daylight under my truck. Thanks
