tailgate relocator kits?

Do you have to use a kit to relocate the handle? If not what are you guys using to mount the handle on the inside of the gate? I shaved my tailgate handle, and now just wondering if I can cut out the metal piece on the inside and mount it in there? Any ideas will help also if anyone has some pics. Thanks

I trimmed out around my handle and moved it to the inside, filled the hole with sheet metal.

The only problem is that I bought the tailgate already shaved and I have no way of cutting around the handle. Thanks thought

Check FBI, Godfathers customs, Can Do or even Suicide to see if they still carry those kits. I'm sure they have em for chevy's so you may have to ask.

before i molded in my gate i had bike brake cables that ran from the latches out the bottum and to a handle, i used a hood pull handle that i got at the junkyard. cheap and affective and if u have a tonneu cover you can still get in.
