New questions I need help about!

Alright the first question is? I took my upper water hose off to see if water would gush out while the truck ran, the radiator was full, has a new thermostat but nothin came out, has a new radiator, anyone know whats the deal?? Next question is my alternator power wire was fired what could cause this? I have my stereo going to the fuse box in the dash going to heater power since ther is no heater could that be why?? please all help is needed befor I give up on this truck and my dream..
