What is the problem...

My 95 Honda accord is being a bitch.Nothing was wrong w/ it when I first bought it, but now every time I turn it off, under the hood it makes a loud ticking sound. I'm a girl and don't know too much about cars so if anyone knows what it could be, please let me know.
