All right, I have never had this happen to me, EVER, so I wanted to see if anyone else has. Around 4:30p, I took my 67 C-10 to the local Sonic because on Saturday nights they have a gathering of older vehicles, hot rods, etc. I haven't had this vehicle too long, so I wanted to see what kind of response it would get. Also I wanted to get a front row parking so that's why I took it so early. My wife picked me in her vechicle, we went threw the drive thru, got some food, and went riding around. We came back at 5:15pm, (cars were starting to gather) and took out our chairs and sat behind my truck. At 6:15pm, the manager of the Sonic comes out and publicly states that the owner of this truck has to leave. I tell him I am the owner and ask him why, and he says my vehicle has been there for several hours and no one has bought anything and that his lot and parking spaces were for paying customers. Of course I got pissed, so I quickly informed him that I had gone threw the drive thru and had got food and my truck had only been there for about an hour and half. At that point, the manager starts backpeddling (cause he didn't know what to say)and says that fine. He walks off and goes over to 2 of the older guys about three cars down and starts talking to them. They kept looking over at me as they were talking and I could tell that he was talking about me so get even more pissed. I decide to go over in the middle of all of them and confront the manager. I told him I didn't appreciate him coming out there and approaching me in the manner he did and asking me to leave. One of the older guys jumps into the conversation and says that he had been throwing the event for several years and that (quote) "Me and MY KIND" are not welcome" (What the F**k!) I got so angry I was shaking. (By the way, I am 35, not 16 years old) I told this old guy that I am doing the same thing he is with his vehicle, just in a different method. (By the way I was the only vehicle out there with air bags). He continues his ranting and raving, and told him that's he and his group are the reason why the older hot rodders and my generation can't get along, because of assholes like him. I then look at the manager and ask him again what's the deal and he says I am not asking you to leave I like all vehicles....What the f**k? The manager doesn't take up for me (a paying customer just like everyone else) and say I have the right to be here, in a public place? To end this book I'm writing, I stayed there the rest of the night refusing to leave. Most everyone that came out to the Sonic came to my vehicle 1st before anyone else so I know that pissed them off. I really wanted this old dude that was being an ass to hit me cause I really really wanted to hit him. I will BE BACK there again. So instead of this being just a complaint thread, (and I am sure this has happened to others) How do we bridge this gap between what we do to our vehicles and the older generation. Sorry for this being so long, but I am still pissed.
