loud option on pioneer cd player and subs

i heard that if u use the loud option on a cd player it could damage the voice coils is this true? i know it makes ur subs hit harder but i dont need it for my subs it makes my door speakers alot cleaner but i dont wanna use it if it damages the subs. thanks
