underneath the truck you'll see two bars running from the lower control arms (one on each arm) follow the bar back to the transmission crossmember. you'll see where they go in. there are two bolts on either side of the crossmember. if you were looking up while underneath the truck they should be facing the ground. anyways on top of the corssmember there should also be two nuts per torsion bar. toyota used the second nut to stop the first one from backing itself loose (causing the truck to lower itself) anyways loosen up the top nut and just turn the bolt head that is facing the ground a few times to lower the truck. (basically loosen the bolt.)

when i did it to my 88 i marked on the crossmember and then made a mark on my socket so that way i could count the amount of turns i made so that way i could get each side approximatley even. crank them down a little bit and tighten up the upper nut then drive the truck around the block and let the torsion bars settle a little bit. keep turning them down until you get the desired amount of drop. also, you might have to remove the bump stops up front as well.

i never rode on cranked torsions, but ive heard of stories about the ride and its not pretty..if you can wait and purchase spindles that would be my advice to you..

its not really that bad if you only lower it a few inches. the guys that take them all the way down and ride on bump stops is where the super shitty ride comes from. when i lowered mine it was just a few inches and it rode fine.

back in the day when i lowered it at first.

after i got my wheels i cranked them up a little bit cause i liked the front higher than the back. the ride difference wasnt really noticable.

u kno those tacoma/highlander wheels are actually pretty pimp man..

they were off a taco, the wheels i had on it originally, the offset pushed the wheel slighly outward so i couldnt lower it. i traded my brother my crager wheels for his stock ones so i could lower...it was a win win for both of us.
