well tonite they started some road construction on a main road here in the city, it was a starting to get dark out to where u needed your headlights on really..... keep in mind im driving a dropped vehicle and i begin driving slowly through a main intersection that they were doing the construction on, before i knew it there was almost a 4 inch drop off where they appearently dug the old asphault(sp?) out across the whole lane and i bottom out on it hardcore, so i angle the car as much as possible to get out cuz theres cars behind me. knowing im going to bottom out again on the way out without any way of avoiding it i go slow as possible to try to do as little damage as i could to the underbody. well i got out and the car started to drive weird and sounded a little funny. almost like the exhaust was backed up? well i jacked the car up when i got home to find my rear crossmember ripped out from under the car being held in by only 1 out of 4 bolts now it got torn off and in the process was pushed up into the exhaust piping causing it to fold in kind of like a taco blocking alot of the exhaust flow. so as far as legal matters go, am i responsible for paying to get the damage repaired since the suspension is modified giving less clearance to the roadway, or is there a way i could get some of my tax dollars back from the city since there was such a big drop off in the road? it was so deep im sure even some stock height cars might have bottomed out, and the worse part about it is that you cant tell its there until u go down (in the dark anyways).
