I know you can put a chevy alternator on the mazda's. Does anyone know which one fits easy, I heard you have to remake one bracket and it bolts right in.

Its napa part number 66185, you will need to buy the connector aswell...
Make sure you don't confuse the lil kids that work the counter. They start looking confused and their zits pop and..wow..just a mess.

Not to sound like i'm changing the subject.. But why not a Probe or mx-6 alt? I know the 89-91 with electronic dash's had a 140 amp. and since its an FE engine, wouldnt it probably just swap in???

proabably because anything chevrolet at the parts counter is a good third of the price of import parts. Most of the probes and MX motors were serpentine belt too, so you'd need a specific year to get the right pulley, which they may not have in stock, and you may have that problem again if you ever have a problem. The connectors are still likely different, same engine type does not indicate having the same wiring.

Anyway, long story short, GM parts are cheap, you can find a GM alternator in stock 30 miles outside of East Bumfuck if you break down, and they still fit fine!

you can use the mx-6/ probe/ 626 alternators- they are more amps- like 75 I think for the fuel injection on those cars. The cases are almost identical- so they will bolt right up to your mazda alt brackets. Just switch the pulleys out from serp to v- groove.
