I own a 2001 chevy s10 w/ 2.2L...so here's the scenerio my truck every like 5th or 6th start will suddenly idle real high and the voltage gauge reads below 9 volts. Like a power surge is going through my battery isolator then melting my ignition wire. This all started 2 days ago when I accidentally grounded out my power system while tightening a nut on my 260 amp relay. As soon as it grounded out the truck suddenly died. I check the fuses and they were ok so I started it back up when it suddenly starting idling high and voltage was very low like I said above. Then at the same time the wire to my ignition melted. I replaced the wire and made sure nothing was grouding out...so far so good. Then just today the new replacement melted and it did it again. Has anybody had this happen to them. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.....thanks.
