axle strength

ok, so i have a 500hp v8 going into my truck and im wondering if the axle will hold up to that.i know a couple years ago there was a 600hp 2jz motor adapted to the stock truck drive train and it handled the power well.so i need to know before i go welding up my 4 link and what not.i would prefer to stick to the yota axle, even if it has to be the v6 or 4x4

well f i was just droping a 500hp motor in my truck i would spare no cost...but like a narrowed 9in rear with a nice OX locker but some good gears in it, a beefy driveshaft

a 4x4 v6 rear can be built to handle it. It's the center carrier with 4 ribs.

so whats the stock 2wd rear rated at? im putting a 350/200R4 setup in my truck.. motors gonna be stock to mild.. maybe a cam and headers.. possibly heads. but nothin crazy.

well its a mazda truck that i converted to 5 lug,so it has the yota axle in it.and i would like to keep a yota axle with out going thru the hassle of finding anotyher one and having it narrowed and shit.so if a v6 can handle it then i will go with that

ya you need to get a beefier rear end and drive shaft!!! I dont know about you but i wouldnt want my drive shaft braking and slicing my cab in half

i talked to an lc engineering tech and he said that the stock 4cyl axle will hold with no problems and it wouldnt hurt to upgrade it the the 8 inch,so that was good for me.he said that the trucks they have built used the stock axles with 500 hp and had no issues

lol i have already had that happen to me....it left a nice little hole for me to fix.happened at 80 mph

does anyone know if the 2wd axles will fit on a 4wd housing & differential? Because the 4x4 are 6 lug. and i really dont want to hcange my rims. But if i can just get a 4x4, and use a set of beefed up 2wd 5 lug axles, that might solve my problem.
