Is there a nominal length for bars when ur designing ur setup? Im looking at making a wishbone 3link similar to seth's basically coz i dnt want to have to move my tank etc. im trying make it as easy on myself as i can coz its my daily & i cant really have it off the road for a long time..
Any help would be appreciated

Cheers guys!

If you are running the lower bars to where the spring perch was, they need to be around 18" center to center. This will keep them off the ground for the most part. The upper bar should be close in length.

keep in mind, the longer your bars are the less pinion angle change your going to have. I made mine as long as I could. I beleive the lowers are almost 24", I cant remember though to be sure.

Actually the length of the bars have nothing to do with pinion change, unless one is drastically longer, so a 40" bar and a 20" bar. The way they are set up will effect pinion angle. The length will effect your wheel arc.

ok so should i keep em as long as i can? would i be better off bracketing from the inside on the frame so i dont drag them off if theyre near the spring perch? Sry bout all the questions im kinda new to this & dont wanna have to do it twice either lol

If you put them inside the frame, the tank has to be moved.

Like I said, if you make them 18" center to center, even with a 2" bushing, that will put them 1/2" off the ground laid out. Mine rarely hit the ground, only on driveways and the like. But if you choose to go that way, keep the upper bar close in length. I would say no more than 20" or so.

cheers seth.. one more question tho, is the distance between uppers & lowers very important? or is it whatever it is?

Yes it is definitely important. The distance at the axle, versus the distance at the frame determines your instant center.
