Astro van front end swap

Anybody that has updated a front end on an older model Astro to a newer model Astro...did you just switch out the front clip and it bolted right up? I've heard some people say you had to put the core support out of the new Astro on there but I wasn't sure and I was just wondering before I went out and bought all the shit...
