allright i made this shifter for my truck and i got it powder coated like a dumbass before i decided how i was going to mount the handle. Anyway, i am going to have to do some welding to it which means my powder coating job will pretty much be useless (but i get the hook up so its all good)...Also my handle that i am going to put on it is chrome. So heres what i need to know.
1. Can i paint over powder coating? I need to know so that when i get my handle and everything straightened out, i can paint it all the same color. I figured i would have to paint because i know the powder coating is baked on which actually IMO would be easier for me to paint over plus, wheres its powder coated it allready has hella rust protection.
2. How do i need to prep chrome so that the paint will adhere to it and wont flake off? I know i will need a good primer so what do you guy's suggest? I was thinking of painting with that high heat engine enamel because its tough and i dont expect it to come off.
3. The top of my handle says B&M. What can i fill that in with so that when i paint it you wont be able to tell it was there. I dont think bondo will stick very well to that chrome slick surface.
So if you auto body guys could help me out i would really appreciate it...thanks in advanced
