rearend swap

ok so its a known fact that "pre" taco axles are shorter. has anyone tried to swap it on an 01-04? anyone know anything about this sawp ? i dont have a clue? are the yokes the same? gear ratio? all those type things?

We put a 84 into a 99. Gear ratio was off but it didn't noticeably affect the drive. If you're keeping your load sensing proportioning valve, you'll have to cut the bracket off and swap sides with it. Other than that, it's a bolt in unit.
