Funny idle prob

i have a 92 toyota. for some reason it sounds like my idle is off.
i can be sitting still, and the idle will rise, then drop....over and over.
it will not stop.
is there somthing to fix this , can i do it or is it somthing i will have to get get fixed...??
also....my exauhst is trashed...no cat(crushed that a couple of moths ago)
and muffler has broken its weld...could this be the prob??? no back pressure???

Bad thermostat, engine not getting to running tem., so won't come out of cold start mode. Engine as to get to 190 degrees!

Could have to do with you crushed cat if its that bad, if your exhaust is that beat up it could be related to a couple things. Do you have a check engine light on or anything?

I had the extact same thing going on,it burned out the converter,& woundn't pass smog. With a brand new LC engine ! Rpm's would go up & down only from one range. That was the cold start injector putting fuel into the engine because the tem was staying low. Just pull the theromstat & see that it's not stuck open!

i'll try that...as far as check engine light on....yes i do....thats because i had the cat removed cus it was melting the asfualt and it smelled like shit.....but since then the exhaust sits low...so i fixed it...i flatened it out...and now the muffler is broken off....lol...i cant win!!!!!
oh well...i'll try the thermo see if it fixes it...

and check your o2 sensor mine went out and did the same thing
