ok,i just bought this 87 yota that has been sitting for about 10 years in a sheltered area.it will start (off of a gas can) and run but when the motor gets warm it will die.it only runs when cold.whats the deal,it runs really nice and no smoke or any thing.this is my second yota and i knowthese motors are bullit proof but not when they dont start.

its either a vacuum line or the idle screws need some tweaking, check your vacuum lines for connections and cracks. Or grab a can of carb cleaner and spray the hell out of it. Ten years of sitting its probably full of crap.

well i got it to run for about 30 minutes and then the next day it wouldnt stay running again, all lines are good and i replaced the ones that needed it.i adjusted the screws and it ran but the next day it wouldnt.i need to get this truck running so i can start my bodydrop on my mazda.

change your fuel filter that may help of course when i first got mine it did the same except it would stutter/cut off while i was driving

its running off of a gas can for the time being,i will be blowing out the lines and cleaning the gas tank this weekend along with oil change and tune up

cap and rotor, thats usually what bogs mine down

ok i will look into that.which reminds me,i filed down the point in the cap and on the rotor and it ran alot better.but its reassuring knowing that in the few minutes this truck can run,it runs smoother and smells better than my juiced mazda.
