Not really sure which forum to put this in, but im having problems with my speedometer going crazy just driving down the road, the needle just goes back and forth, especially when i hit dips and bumps in the road, i cant even tell how fast im really going.

Also my ABS cuts in and out randomly, also after hitting bumps. The ABS light just goes on and off as it pleases and the brakes will make a griding noise when coming to a stop.

And last, when i accelerate suddenly from any speed , it hits the rev limiter and wont seem to shift correctly up or down. Im thinking all these problems might be tied in somehow, as they all started happening at the same time. My truck is a 2.2 1999 Auto trans. If this sounds like anything someone can help me with please let me know.

Thanks a lot.

that 2.2 engine/trans problem is pretty common with the shifting etc. they are notoriously weak tranny's and problematic. see if you can get an upgrade for that trans somehow. as for the speedo problems, id say it was your speedo cable on your tranny. go underneath the truck and check on the cable's condition and whether or not it is in the tranny all the way.......this may lead to the shifting problems being solved as the trabby is ecu engaged.

im pretty sure a 99 s10 dosent have a speedo cable ....its is all electric....my truck used to do the same shit and come to find out my battery cables were fucked up and loose causing a shortage ..........................

ya bro, check your grounds and battery posts because if the ecm doesnt get enough current it will act silly. also the speedo is controller by the vehicle speed sensor, cables havnt been used in cars since maybe the 80s.

well i dont have my truck with me, it will be next week before i see it again to check these things out, is the speed sensor something i should check also? and that is on the trans also right?

I would have the computer checked on it bro, also for the ABS check the ABS line bhind the front wheels, those are some slim damn lines and I pulled mine apart one day on accident, had to clamp that thing back together. Will see you in a month at LFT bro.
